NOTD January 14th: Essie - Merino Cool

Hey there!
Here's another color for them Essie Mini Fall Cube I reviewed here *click*.
And honestly, I'm a little disappointed. I already swatched it in that review, but there I did get that disappointed. My disappointment comes from the color. It looks so pretty purple-grey mulberry in the bottle, on the promo pics, and on swatches I saw, but on me it's just a pewter grey.
And it also chipped on me after one day. I don't know maybe it's just my bottle of it, or my nails, but I'm not so happy about it. It's still pretty, but not the color I actually wanted. But whatever! I still like it. The purple does show up, but not as much as I thought and not in every lighting.
What do you think of this color? Does it look purple-grey mulberry on you??
I'll see you later!

Essie Merino Cool

This is 3 coats of Essie Merino Cool, a medium toned, purplish taupe. I like it much better in my photos than I did in real life. Does that ever happen to you?

I finally started a Concrete and Nail Polish facebook page for those of you who like to keep up with blogs through facebook. I've also posted galleries of my favorite colors & my favorite manicures that I've done since starting my blog.

Thanks for reading!

NOTD January 4th: Essie - Limited Addiction + Spotted

Hey everyone,
I just lately reviewed the Essie Mini Fall Cube here, and now I'm wearing one of the colors: Limited Addiction! If you want to read more about the color and stuff, go to that review. For now, let's just say it's a cherry bloody red.

I like it a lot, because it looks classy without being that obvious bright red! I'm wearing two coats of it, with topcoat, and it stayed until the second day without showing any tipwear. I removed it today, day 4, not only because it chipped a little, but also because I like to change my color often so it's not boring :)

Do you like this color, too? Or do you maybe prefer that standart bright red? I'd like to know!

I just recently visited dm and found the new p2 Limited Edition, called Your Wild Side.
I didn't buy anything, not so interesting to me, but I thought you might like to see a picture of the counter :)

Essie Mini Fall Cube

Hey guys!
I just recently went shopping and visited Douglas and I saw something I had to get: the Essie Mini Fall Cube! I know, fall's over by a long time now, but it was still available, so I had to get it :)
Even though these are fall colors, I think they're also nice for this winter time now.
I'll show you swatches and describe the colors:

Limited Addiction:

A gorgeous red creme, almost like a jelly, but very opaque. The color is a mix between a cherry red and a bit of bloody red. It needs two coats to get opaque which is perfect in my opinion :) The color is so gorgeous, not too unique, but still not your everyday bright red.

Sew Psyched:
it's way too pale on this picture, the swatch shows the color better.
A green color with a grey hint in it, very unique in my opinion, and it has a slight shimmer that is not always visible. The shimmer is not silver and not gold either, I think it's more of a green grey shimmer, like the actual polish. It's something you don't really find often, especially not at the drugstore. The color is not a color that everyone would like, it's very special, so look at it first :)

Little Brow Dress:

A very dark brown color that is almost black. It's not too warm, definitely not like a chocolate color, but it could be dark chocolate, like ones with 70% cocoa ;) You can tell I'm a fan of chocolate ;) But it also reminds me of coffee. The color is really pretty, I like it, it's different than just a basic black. It's a creme with a very glossy finish.

Merino Cool:
it's a little too pale on this picture, the swatch shows it better.
here the color's true.
A grey color that has a purple tint to it. It's described as a mulberry color very often, I'm not sure if I would agree, because to me it looks not purple enough. It's a creme and a very cool color, too. I can mainly tell the grey color, and if the lighting was bad, you could easily overlook the purple hint. It's not too unique, but also not a very common color.

The cube, containing four mini polishes that hold 5 ml each, costs 12.95 Euros at Douglas. I think the colors are really nice, and even though they're meant to be fall colors, I'll give them a try in winter. It's perfect when you don't want to buy the whole bottle and try out more than one color. The price for these mini polishes is as high as it would be for one normal sized one (15 ml).

The quality is the good old Essie one, pretty nice. All polishes are opaque with two coats and don't show tipwear until the 2nd day of wearing them. At least that's how it's on me.

Plus: I started a little poll on the sidebar. Would be great if you could take the time and fill it in :)

Do you own any of these colors? Do you like them? Or wouldn't you wear them now because they're fall colors? Tell me!
Bye everyone!

At the top of my A-List

Wow, 90 followers! Now I'm feeling guilty about being lazy in my posting. Thanks to you all for considering me follow worthy!

So this polish (Essie A-List) was in my stocking and at first I was prepared to be "meh" because if I don't wear the right red it's pretty horrific but once I put it on I was totally "WOW!"

This is a perfect red! And holy cow how red it is. It is as juicy as Snow White's apple, as Vampy as Morticia Adams and as sexy as as a Betty Page in all her pinup glory. And did I mention that I love it? Well I do...Lots!

The application was a bit "meh" though, this is four coats (and we know how I feel about more than two) and even though this flowed onto my nail as smooth as silk and the juicy, vampy, sexy goodness was there in two coats, there were also some not so any of the above bald spots that kept showing up needing another coat to cover them.
Was it worth 4 coats?
Yes, yes it was most certainly!
Would I wear it again?
You better believe it!

Now that I've showed you my awesome nails, (no false modesty here, this color really is awesome!) I have to share my little bit of news and ask for you all to cross your fingers for me.
I have a job interview come Monday. It's at a quilt shop in the sweetest little historical village turned shopping...uh...village (my favorite is the old fashioned candy store, mmmmm fudge!). The hours are very reasonable, they're closed on Sundays so I'd have time to be with my family and they're almost literally around the corner. Ok, 5 corners if you don't count pulling out of the driveway. And it involves something I love doing, so lots of good mojo sent this way please, fingers crossed and all that! If I get it, I'll have money to buy polish again(which hasn't happened in over two months) so...Pleeeeeeeease!!

Thank you all so much for reading, I love my followers and I love comments, leave me some!
Until next time, be safe and happy! Read Full...

NOTD December 19th: Snowflake Design

Hey guys!
Today's another nail art design, I'm having a lot of ideas for this season, so I change my nails every few days, and I want to show them all to you!

That's what you need:
- base coat (mine is Essence pro white french)
- lilac polish (I used OPI Do you lilac it?)
- a silver-champagne color (I used Essence Fairytale LE - 02 pixie dust)
- a white color (I used the Essence tip painter in white)
- a silver polish (I used Jesse's Girl in North Star)
- a nail art brush or toothpick to create the design
- a purple color (I used Essie Sexy Divide)
- a top coat (I used Essence Sealing Top Coat)

That's how to do it:
1. Paint all your nails with a base coat to protect the natural nail.

2. Paint some of your nails with the lilac color, some with the champagne.
3. For the nails with the lilac color on them:
we're going to create snowflakes on these nails. You can do how many you like, I always did some in white and some in silver. I did a little graphic on how to create them:
place the snowflakes wherever you want, they can overlap each other if you like that.
4. For the nails with the silver-champagne color on them:
I decided to do these differently so the design wasn't that simple. I just took the purple polish and draw one to two stripes across the nails. You can also do these with the snowflake design, depends on what you like.
5. Seal everything with your top coat.

And that's it! You can also do just one of the two things I did, I just wanted to put a little twist to it :)
Hope you liked it!
xoxo, Misch

NOTD December 10th: Plaid Nail Art

Hey everyone!

Today I have another nail art design for you :) You know, lately I've really been obsessed with nail art, and here's the next design I did:
Here we go:
That's what you need:
- a base coat (as always, I used Essence pro white french)
- a pale rose polish (I used Essie Guchi Muchi Puchi)
- a blue-ish grey polish (I used Astor 597 VIP Grey)
- a bright medium blue polish (I used Astor Fash'n Studio 70)
- a mint polish (I used H&M Dollar Green)
- a toothpick
- a top coat (as always, I used Essence nail art sealing top coat)

That's how to do it:
1. Apply a base coat to all of you nails.
2. Paint all of your nails a pale rose color, use as many coats as needed.
3. Take your grey color, wipe off the brush really well and paint a medium size line onto the middle of your nail. It should cover about one third of your nail. Add a second coat if needed and let it dry.
4. Pour some bright blue polish onto a piece of paper and paint a line along the grey stripe, you decide whether you do it on the left or the right.
5. Take some more of the blue polish and draw 2 lines across the finger nail. That way you're creating the plaid design.
6. Pick up some mint color and do one stripe across and one along the nail. That way you're completing the plaid pattern.
7. Seal the design with your favorite top coat.

And that's it! I like it a lot :)
I know this isn't very christmas-y, but there will be some more chritmas things, I promise! I was just in the mood for these colors :)

BTW, I'm sorry that the font is always so small and weird, I always try to change it several times but it never works :P Does anyone have the same problem? Do you have any ideas on how to solve the prob? Please help!

Let me know if you try it out and I'll see you guys later!
xoxo, Misch

Essie Sew Psyched & An Accent Nail

This is 2 coats of Essie Sew Psyched. The formula was a little thick & it dries much darker than the bottle. It's a dusty, grayish green with subtle shimmer that you can only see in full sunshine. Most of the time it just looks like a creme. It's a fairly unique color and one I definitely like, but I didn't fall head over heels for it like I thought I would.

The next night I used one of my smARTnails sticker stencils for an pretty accent nail. The combination of Essie Sew Psyched and Sinful Vacation Time feels very Art Deco to me.

Essie Little Brown Dress

This is 2 coats of Essie Little Brown Dress. really nice formula and lovely color! This is much darker than most of the colors I love, but I find this super dark brown creme very appealing, especially around Thanksgiving.

The next day I used some my smART Nails sticker stencils and Zoya Kym. Not my favorite combination, but just fine.

Essie Demure Vixen & nail art stickers

Essie - Demure Vixen, 2 coats

Oh Demure Vixen, you shot straight into my top 20! A taupe/mauve creme with hidden pink shimmer, this little nymphet is by far my favourite Essie lacquer. It's a universally appropriate colour for any occasion without being in the slightest boring.

It could be that the top coat I used (Sally Hansen Insta-Dri) affected the colour - I did this mani with Demure Vixen last night, and this morning as I checked my nails I noticed that the colour had changed from taupe to very saturated mauve and my nails don't match the colour of the bottle anymore... hmm. The pictures taken with flash accentuate the taupe, but the upmost image is probably the most accurate representation of how this polish looks on me. o.O

Essie - Demure Vixen, 2 coats & nail art stickers

The super cute flower decals were bought from Seppälä, a Finnish clothing store chain. These were much easier to apply than the french tip ones I wore two weeks ago, and I hadn't noticed the nice foil detailing until I put them on.
