I want to try hair extensions.....

Over Christmas and new years I always want to do something different, or at least wake up on new years day feeling different.

I spotted this image in a hair mag (so exuse the massive light reflection at the top) a few days back and fell in love, I'm a sucker for loose messy curls. I love everything about this picture the makeup and the hair so I will definitely be re creating this look over new years if I decide to go out.
I could create this look on my own hair, but realistically when its the party season you want to go all out. In other words the bigger the hair the better.

I want my hair to stay voluminous minus the hair spray, so that's where your help comes in......

Can you recommend me some good quality clip in hair extensions???

And do any of you like to have a change for new years..... Read Full...

The Lisa Shepherd Experience

Hey girlies, I was recently invited to the Lisa Shepherd London Salon to get my hair done...... errr what girl would say no to that!

To most of us Lisa is known as the lady who coloured people's hair on ten years younger, but I was heading there for an appointment with Jason Cocking.
He has been in the business for 15 years and styled the locks of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Nigella and Cat Deely just to name a few. He was also the colourist on the recent Guy Ritchie film, Sherlock Holmes.

First off let me tell you how lovely the salon is, No wait actually you can see for yourself...

Very sleek and modern, and I was loving the egg shaped seats ( I'm such a child)

So onto the hair...

I could have taken advantage off this and changed my whole look, but no what does little old boring me do, I chicken out and opt for my roots being lifted, a trim, A vegetable colour gloss, some weight being taken out the sides and a straight blow dry.

Even though Its a minor change, I love it. The colour is perfect and my hair is much bouncier now that the weights been taken out. The dead ends are gone too, it had to be done.....

Beam me up Scottie......

After the above picture was taken I had my hair washed. The chair I was sitting in massaged my back whilst I was given the most amazing head massage. I could of actually fell asleep.

This was my hair when I got home, I did get a bit wind swept on the way -_-. I love the shine, it was insane when I stepped out of the salon, and I definitely caught a few ladies giving me the side eye on the way home. (Haha!)

The whole experience was great, I was really looked after. Most importantly I was listened too, there was no crazy scissor action going on here!

I felt like I was in there for no time at all, and I was loving that the hair colours they used develop in 10 minutes.

I didn't think anyone would be able to handle my hair but oh my I was so proved wrong. To blow dry my hair is a job in itself, Jason is the only person in my life that has given me a perfect blow dry using just a brush, my old hairdresser gave up half way through (the cheek!!) I think he deserves a medal.

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone at the salon, especially to Jason for conquering the bush that is my hair, I love it

Ladies don't ever say a man cant do a good job....

I Need A Curl Friend...

Some of you may have seen me post this wild like bush on twitter a while back before I went to bed.

Please don't be alarmed, I did not stick my finger in a socket, this is my hair when its left to air dry naturally. The above picture was taken when it was about 70% dry, It only grew bigger with time -_- I used to have much more of it when I was younger and was nicknamed 'lion' whenever anyone had attempted to give it a blow dry, and again -_-

Its all well and good having hair like this if you've got an on tap zoo keeper to tame it, which I sadly do not have. Nothing and I mean nothing has ever tamed my hair in its natural state, Its definitely in a league of its own

Enter Umberto Giannini new Curl Friends range, designed to help curly head girls stay frizz free....

The Hairspray...
This spray is one like no other, no matter how much you spray, it never gives your hair that crunchy cornflake feeling. It smells lovely and definitely keeps style in place for a solid few hours. I would recommend this to anyone really, I have used this when my hairs straight and its just as good.

The Serum....
Designed to keep frizz at bay and enhance your curls leaving them shiny and smooth, without leaving you looking like you have dunked your head in a bucket of grease. This definitely passed the test, I pumped a lot of this stuff into my hair and all I got was shine, no grease. I do have the type of hair that soaks up moisture like a sponge though, so bare that in mind.

The Mask...
If you love the feel of a rich intensive mask slathered all over your head, then you will love this whether your hair is curly or straight. The treatment itself is an intensive moisturising conditioner that helps tame frizz and repair damage hair. I kept this on my hair for around 10 min, and wrapped my head up with cling film and a warm towel (oh the glamour). Once I had rinsed this out my hair felt so soft and there was a definite shine.

All in all I love, and I would say you could definitely use these whether your hair is straight or curly. If you are going to try these on naturally straight hair, make sure your hair is on the thicker side as I'm not sure if these would weigh down thinner hair.

Sadly my hair defeated these products, although my curls were much more defined my root area was just out of control, which is the norm for me. I gave in and headed to my straighteners, but I was left with uber shiny hair so that was a bonus.

I'm fighting a losing battle when it comes to taming my natural hair, I'm never going to win.

The Curl Friends range is available in Boots right now, but isn't available online yet.

Each product retails at £4.89

Have any of you tried these? or maybe you just have a magic tip for dealing with unruly curly hair....

Tweethearts Big Hair And Lucious Lips

Hey girlie's, sorry for the brief departure. I had an issue with a new laptop I bought, after three days it had a melt down. Its all good now though I picked up a new one so I'm finally set up and good to go. I have literally been blogging through my phone for the past 6 months, so its good to be back at a laptop and hitting real keys rather than a mobile phone screen. Also in that time I reached 900 followers, so a big thank you to everyone that stuck with me and the people that joined me.

So onto the post. I was recently tweeting about the Umberto Giannini 'Backcomb in a bottle'. I had been trying to get my hands on it for ages with each trip to my local Boots being a major fail. As I tweeted my upset, another lovely lady '@MandyKhaira' tweeted me saying she couldn't get hold of it either.

A little time passed, like 30 mins lol and she tweeted me again saying she finally found it on a 3 for 2 in boots and picked it up. She said one was for her friend one was for her and I could have the spare one. I offered her money but she declined saying it was a gift from her beauty addict heart. I thought that was so sweet, so after ensuring she wasn't a sweaty old man that just wanted my address, I emailed her my details and look what came yesterday.......

The first thing I did was tweet her a big 'thank you' because not only did she send me this, she threw in something else too (that I will get onto in a moment.)
Clearly being me,I wasn't just going to open this and let it sit there, so I sprayed it.......

It took the section of hair I sprayed it on up north, it wasn't sticky or crunchy but I definitely think there is a knack to using this so expect a review soon.

She also threw in a favourite of hers and I think its now a favourite of mine.

Its the Lancome colour fever lippie in '204 Beige Everyday'. Its such a natural pretty sheer lipstick. I'm actually wearing it in the top picture. I think it gives my lips that extra something something.

If your reading this, thanks again Mandy

And for the rest of you what do you think about the backcomb in a bottle? are you loving it or hating it?

Are you loving my new lovely lippie?

New Huurrrr!!!

I tend to get real bored of my hair, but one things certain, when winter hits I go back to my natural colour.

The other day this dropped through my door, via a first come first serve thing on John Friedas facebook page.

Now my natural hair is really dark, and usually when I go for a chocolate brown hair colour,I end up near enough black.

Not with this colour....

I went for medium chocolate brown from the new precision foam colour range. It was easy to apply without any drips. Im not going to lie,it was actually the first time I coloured my hair without the usual old hair dye towel round my neck.

The colour wasn't as dark as I thought, and with the flash on it shockingly matches the colour on the box.

Obviously in real life I dont walk around with a bright light shining on my head, but in natural daylight its so deep and chocolatey.

Sorry if the above pic has come out teeny,I cant judge anything through my phone :-\

Im loving it. I also cut a fringe in but im slowly bringing it across day by day to get used to it lol. I feel a tad mushroom like....

Will any of you be going darker for winter? I always find it fitting

Ego

I have had my ego dryer for close to a year now,no doubt the people that sent it my way would like to beat me round the head with it....

This isnt your usual hairdryer, they call it a sunny dryer because instead of it blowing your hair all over the place,it uses gentle heat to penetrate the hair from the inside out, rather than just scorching the outside.

This has a 2000 watt motor,3 heat settings,2 speed settings and a cool shot.

I wasnt using a particular special dryer before this one, just a standard one purchased from a high street hair shop that was nearing 9 years old!

When I first used this I did notice that it dried my hair a hell of a lot quicker than anything I had used before. My hair wasnt left looking frazzled and frizzy either.

On my quest to grow out my hair, having this in my life is definitely worth it.Having the dryer pointed at my head for a reduced amount of time, means less heat which means less damage.Anything that keeps my hair healthy gets the thumbs up from me.

This is available from salons across the country as well as Selfridges and Harrods
RRP £109.99

It is pricey, but if your looking for a professional piece of kit,its worth it in the long run.It also comes with a 2 year warranty.

'O' my god

As im still upoading things through my phone,it only lets me add one picture to my posts at a time(dry!)so iv picked the one thats a clear must see.

This will be the first of a couple posts, just to give you all a heads up and a little sneak peak.

I was one of 6 lucky bloggers to be invited to the cloud9 'O'  launch at the Dorchester hotel.

The 'O'  is a look into the future when it comes to heated rollers.

Ok,so what is it and how does it work?

The 'O' is a pod like device that heats up specially designed rollers in super speedy time. You simply pop your roller in the pod,you will then hear three beeps, and wa la....your roller will be heated to 135 degrees, hot enough for your hair and heated from the inside, the rollers are not at all hot to handle.Might I also add,the pod doesnt get hot at all, even after the rollers have been heated.Oh and it wont just beep for anything,it detects the rollers only.

The rollers arnt your usual heavy weight velcro snagging torture devises. They are very light weight and are covered in tiny combs to comb your hair, and keep it tangle free whilst your putting them in.They also stay in without the added fuss  of having to use clips or pins.

The perfect device for adding body and oomph to the hair, and its not just for long hair. Both hair models at the event had shoulder length hair, and the results were great.

TheO isnt available to buy just yet,but will be very soon.RRP £149.95,but if you cant wait until then, they are being used in a number of salons at the moment,John Frieda,Nicky Clarke and Urban Retreat just to name a few.

Until my next post (with loads more pics) check here to see it in action....

Herbal Essences-Beautiful Ends

I have never tried Herbal Essences before now.And if im honest, the only reason I picked these things up was because they were on offer for something stupid like £1.70.

If im remembering correctly there are four products in this range.I only picked up three, but there's also a hair mask.

So onto the good bit.I have only used the shampoo and conditioner a few times ans I already love it.I have probably said before,I need to be careful with what products I use in my hair, because a lot of things in the past have irritated my scalp. This does not irritate me in any way.It smells divine and I love its colour.

What the shampoo says :Heres the long story shortened,Ill help protect your hair against split ends and breakage. So,get lost in your length with my velvety formula with red raspberry & silk extracts.Want to give your hair an extra treat? Indulge yourself with my velvety conditioner and pampering treatments.

What the conditioner says: Longing for more?Let it out and indulge every inch with my velvety conditioning with red raspberry &silk extracts.Ill give your length protection against breakage and split ends. You've got longer hair to love, and I've got more love to give. How long will you go without touching it?If you love me,you will also love my intensive treatments.

I also picked up the split end protecting cream. This also smells lovely, and I near enough use this everyday.

A little bit of this product goes a long way.It leaves my hair looking soft and silky, and can be used on dry hair as well as towel dried hair.

The reason im blogging so randomly about shampoo and conditioner,Is because I have really noticed a difference in my hair. Its much stronger, silkier and shinier than usual.I have also noticed less hair in my hair brush *-*

I really would recommend trying a few things from this range.

It really has given me beautiful ends,as well as beautiful hair.

Big Sexy Hair

I love this stuff.A lot of mousse products that claim to give the famous big hair fail me,and with my type of hair I now just tend to steer way clear.

This was sent to me as an extra when with my ego tongs to help me create the big hair that I was craving. At first I was like oh crap its mousse. But decided to give it a go anyway.

The product itself is the consistence of a light foam when sprayed further away, and the cone looking thing that surrounds the nozzle helps distribute it evenly.

The first time I used his was a big F.A.I.L. I sprayed way too much and as the week went on I began to feel some obvious product build up in my crown area.

So the second time round I was ready to get it right.I sprayed it from a distance and kind of rubbed it in.

It worked, woo hoo,I had big hair which I really need to take some pictures of.The good thing was that it lasted a few days with out me having to add any more product.I just had to kind of poof it up with my fingers.

As I have already said, the only downfall for my hair type was spraying to much by mistake.I did have to wash my hair a lot sooner than I actually needed too. That for me is a process of its own,So not making that same mistake again was crucial lol.

The sexy hair range s from the US but it is indeed filtering its way to the UK.Im pretty sure that you can pick certain products up in TK Maxx but Its also available here and you can browse the range here

I think I might try curly sexy hair and silky sexy hair next

Have any of you tried anything from this range, what do you think?

p.s even though I was sent this product, all my opinions are honest,I would never try and fool my readers and frankly If I didn't like it I wouldn't even have a slot on my blog

Ego

Iv got a huge ego lol well at least I did have (in this instance im referring to my hair)

I was sent these a few weeks back to try out,the day before I was just about to go out and buy some, lady luck was clearly on my side for once..

What they say : TWISTED EGO

The art of getting noticed, with a twist

No hair disobeys the iron will of this tong that includes

fully adjustable temperature control for frizz free curls.

The evenly distributed heat and HW2 technology

guarantees an even and lasting curl. RRP £89.99

EVERY EGO comes with NEW HW2 technology - 4000 year old mineral rich, red earth of the mountainous forests of Korea blended with the finest crushed Tourmaline gems. The result is a powerful natural phenomenon that actively removes toxins and static from each hair while reducing styling time, retaining moisture and cushioning the hair from direct and damaging heat. EGO tools are also supported with a 2 year no quibble warranty.

To live life in style, be an EGOTIST.

Ego – I am who I am

What I say: This large barrel tong is Ideal for creating soft waves or big tumbling curls.I have created both, but at the moment Im just using it to create really loose subtle waves as I have been pining my hair up alot.I like the fact that the temperature is adjustable, because it means my locks dont get an instant shock of 200 degree heat when I use them.
They also have a built in stand,so you don't have to worry about burning anything when you put them down. From the picture below you can get an idea of the overly loose curls

yes,im aware im due for a trim,my hair also needs a wash so please excuse any fluff you may see,lol

They do curl my hair really quick,I probably hold it in my hair for like 6sec and let it go.My hair rarely holds curl, because of all the years I have been taking straighteners to it.Usually when I attempt to curl it,the curls completely drop out within an hour. With these I found that the curl only slightly drops, but It still holds. The curls don't even drop out when I go to bed.I just wake up the next day with really loose waves, and Im lazy,I don't use hairspray.....

I'm glad I was given the opportunity to try these. They are the perfect tool to use whilst im sporting my loose wavy pinned up hair do.And because the curl holds, its really helping me in my "healthy hair" mission. With these I only need to put heat on my hair on a Mon, Thurs and Saturday...RESULT

Have any of you got a new found love for tongs?

Jonh Frieda-Go Blonder

Has summer come early...? well no clearly it hasn't,but maybe this might help...

So yesterday,I received these little mini sample sizes of John Frieda Go Blonder, they look so cute lol. Thanks Angela. This product is basically meant to be like summer in a tube,It gradually lightens blonde or highlighted blonde hair like the sun would, minus the damaging effects,What? that's interesting.

Now with the size of my afro im clearly not going to get much of a result out of these cute little things,so now that I know it exists,I will definitely be on the look out for it next time I hit the shops. So,so far on my list of things to get we have maybelline falsies mascara, loreal youth code and now this,I also want to get a nice everyday MAC lipstick if any of you have any recommendations.

So getting back to the subject, heres what the go blonder shampoo and conditioner looks like. Its aimed at people with blonde hair or blonde highlighted hair. But I have heard shampoos aimed at blonde hair can give brunettes super shine.Never tested that theory before, but just though id share it.

Clearly im not blonde,But I do have dark blonde through parts of my hair that are more noticeable in the light. If this little tube of sunshine promises to give me the results of sun-kissed hair all year round,Im gonna take it up on its promise, and give it a whirl.

I have used John Frieda in the past, colour glaze(love) and various products from the frizz-ease range,so im intrigued to see if this will really work.

Fingers crossed I can report back with some good news.

How To Create A Messy Bun

When I was younger this was really one of the only styles I used to rock,Back then it was so much harder for me to create due to having really long thick hair. And not knowing how to control it.But a pair of ghd's and a few years later, the texture and thickness of my hair has totally changed-It cant be a good thing but its easier for me : o

So I have two ways you can create a lovely messy bun

FIRST WAY-best for light hair of a shorter lenght

1.Scrape your hair back with your fingers, leaving bits at the front to drop, after all it is a messy style were going for here

2.twist your hair into a loose bun, then simply secure it with hair pins

3.Do the shake test-yes people.shake your head from left to right to make sure it doesn't fall out

4.Once its secure and in place, gently pull on pieces of the bun to loosen the look of the style, mind you, dont pull so hard that you pull pieces out.you can also do the same thing on the crown area and the sides of your hair to create a more relaxed messy look if you find it looks to neat

SECOND WAY-for people with longer thicker hair

1.Tie your hair up in a pony tail,on your last tie, dont pull your pony tail right through, this should leave you with a sort of hanging bun,if that makes sense

2.gently pull on random strands all over your crown,(do not pull strands out)this is just to give it a more naturally scraped back look, rather than a neat sleek look.

3.Now all you need to do is pin up random sections of your hanging bun

4.This should leave you with a nice messy look,If it isnt messy enough for you,try repeating step four above

I will get a picture up of my own head a bit later, when I can find the bloody usb lead

: )

oh,feel free to leave a comment if you didnt understand any of my little ramble lol, anyone and everyone can leave comments here

A ladybird, lee stafford and skin doctors

So I got out today before the daily rain we seem to be having, picked up a few bits n bobs

I picked up some Lee Stafford climate control,Ive never used this before but Ive never had any trouble with his products in the past,in fact I quite love them.My hair isnt handling the wind and and the rain, and this dry spray promises to give me protection from elements all year round, preserving its strength and prolonging my hair colour,so we shall see....

Also on the cards we have a product I discovered online, called ingrow go,Its by a company called skin doctors and promises to rid those hideous little red bumps you can sometimes get from shaving or in grown hairs.Im not ashamed to admit I sometimes get those tiny ugly bumps from shaving,Im just glad ive found something to keep my legs smoooooth,Before purchasing this,I read a load of reviews on this stuff,I never saw one bad one, lets leave it a that, you can get this at boots for £9.99,Yeah it sounds expensive, but if its going to sort a problem nothing has been able to in the past,im not fussed,I will def keep you all updated........

I also got some carmex,I forgot to add it in the pictures, whoops, but you all know what it looks like,It hasn't really been that cold but my lips just didnt feel at all moisturised, the vaseline weren't cutting it,So in come carmex,It moisturises and protects and has a little tingle sensation when you put it on.I love the smell too,so far so good

And last but not least.....

I picked up this dainty ladybird necklace from topshop for £4,yes its so dainty in this picture it looks like a tiny red dot,But I assure you it isnt lol,I will try and get a better picture up of it.It really is the sweetest thing ive ever seen,oh and its not a sale item either,it actually is £4

have you tried any of the products up top?

If you have,let me know

Cloud Nine Irons

I was lucky enough to be sent a pair of cloud nine irons to try,I was a tad sceptical at first as nothing to me is better than my trusty GHD iron

How wrong was I.............

These irons are made by the creators of the original GHD iron,But these have a clever little difference. They offer all the style without the heat

With a digital dial on the inside to control the temperature and,Its smart mode, were if the irons are not used for half an hour, they turn themselves off,These irons surprised me

Anyhoo,this is how they came........

The packaging was very nice and well presented, and I loved that they were wrapped in bubble wrap, more because I sat for ages popping it

So onto the good stuff

When I first ran these irons through my hair,I was like "I dont like them" and was tempted to reach for the Ghds,But I was good and I never.I straightened my hair on a mid heat (trust me for my hair that is good) and was pleasantly surprised that it was straight, but hadn't lost its natural thickness

So I vowed to use these for a week before I made my true judgement,The week is up and im still using them whilst my Ghds gather dust,I never believed I would ever say that :S

The cloud nine irons also have some kind of secret formula in the plates to give hair extra shine,Id say I noticed the shine more the next day

I havnt tried any other styles with them as of yet, other than straight,But that's only because for some strange reason I havnt had to use them everyday, which I would usually have to do, to keep my hair looking sweet. But I will definitely try some different styles at the weekend

I really like these irons, and I like the fact that my hair doesnt get snagged on the plates when using them, they actually glide through hair effortlessly

Ooh I forgot to add the irons come with a styling guide,a heat protective cover and a pouch to keep them safe when travelling,or when packing them away

All in all,I think im going to have to say, rest in peace GHD,I still love you,but ive met someone new

;)

Cloud nine irons retail at £129.95,more info is available here- click

Im really going to try and stick with it this time

You can probably get sea kelp anywhere,I got mine from Holland and Barrett, and im sure they were around £3

Loreal Elnett Satin

Loreal Elnett satin...
So i have used Elnett for a while now, aside from the other hairsprays iv tried along the way
and to tell the truth,Elnett is the only hairspray i reckon works on my hair
It doesnt way it down, make it sticky and what matteres most to me is that my hair doesnt feel crunchy,i still want my hair to feel like hair

This is the one Im talking about...

Its the very volume formula, with pro keratin(i dont know what that is but its got to be good lol)

I always purchase supreme hold, and the other day i thought id put it through its paces
When i apply hairspray,i never apply alot,in fear il have a head of hair that feels like a bowl of cornflakes

But the other day,i thought, what the heck, and sprayed my hair to the max
Suprisingly,My hair still felt soft and there was not a crunch in sight

So I vowed to go through the day, without poofing up my hair like I usually would,That was so hard by the way

And to add to that I even rolled the car window down to let the wind abuse my hair

I also had a nap lol

At the end of the night,I wouldnt say my hair looked how it did when i first styled it
(it had lost a bit of volume)
But it definately held its style, and it was still neat
All i had to do to make it look a bit better was poof it up with my hands a bit

This is by far my fave hairspray
