tips** its much better if u do not clean the scraper after every polish u scraped it would help to make the design to give more gradient effect

U can put 2 or more polish all u have to do is to  scrape FAST "twice" the polishes..

stamping nail art is so easy to do U just need a little speed when doing this stamping nail art...

Nothin' but Nail Guides Mani & Tutorial

How bad is it that as you're putting on one color of polish you're thinking of the different things you can do to it? I sometimes wonder if having so many polishes keeps me from truly appreciating the individual polishes. Umm...Ok, done philosophizing, lets move onto the polish. :)

As I was putting on OPI's Rising Star I was contemplating how I could turn it into another more glamorous Halloween look, I wanted to fit just one more in. Ug, can you believe this month is over!??

Anyway, here's what I came up with, and since my last tutorial was a hit, and this look is really simple and can be used with a variety of color combos, I figured I'd do another one.

I must admit that I wish I'd left the jewels off, they just don't go with the look like I'd hoped.

Moving onto the tutorial!

Step 1: Apply your base coat and base color, (OPI Rising Star.) Make sure it's completely dry and apply french nail guides as shown.
Step 2: Apply a darker color (Orly Out of This World) to the area above the guides. Carefully remove the guides and apply a quicky drying top coat (Seche Vite) and let dry completely.
Step 3: Your nails will look like this, now you're going to take a fresh set of guides and using the diagram shown place them on your nails. The guide edge placement is important to achieve the crescent shape.
Step 3 cont.: Once your guides are in place, take your final color (OPI Take the Stage) and paint the area below the guides.
Step 4: Remove the guides, your nails will look like the pic above. Apply another top coat to smooth things out, you can also add embellishments if you like. Now sit back and enjoy. Read Full...

Won't You Come Into My Parlor? Nails and Tutorial

I've been enjoying all of the adorable spiders that have been making their appearance on the nails of fellow bloggers. Not one to be left out I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and do my own version. While I was at it I figured I'd do a tutorial. So lets get started.

First, here are some shots of the completed mani.


























Now, on with the tutorial.
On all the nails
Step 1. Apply your favorite base coat, I use OPI Ridge Filler.
Step 2. Create your base color, I used one coat of each in this order, Orly 'White Tips', Orly 'Platinum', Maybelline Salon Expert 'Rock Out', and a Quick dry top coat (I used SH Insta Dry but it was old and bubbled.)

On an accent finger
Step 3. Using black acrylic paint and a large dotting tool create the body and head of the spider. it should look like an upside down two tier snowman.

Step 4. Using the black paint (thinned with a bit of water so it flows better) and a liner brush paint in the legs and the web. Paint larger webs on two additional fingers.

Step 5. Highlight the web and spider. I used silver (Stripe Rite) for the web and NYX 'Asphalt' (a black base with tiny multi-colored glitter) for the spider

Step 6. With a detail brush and bright red acrylic paint, paint an hourglass shape in the center of the body of the spider. If you have small enough triangular jewels you could use those instead putting them point to point to create the hourglass. I used a red based glitter polish to highlight (NYX 'Dark Red Glitter').

From there it's just a matter of applying your top coat. I hope you all enjoyed my little tutorial. Have a great day and until next time, ciao!

How to give yourself a Manicure!!! -- Pamper yourself with Salon arm & hand massage technique!!

So, here is my tutorial for manicure.

First of all, I apologize for fast forwarding lots of the parts.
I just had to fit everything into this short video!!


This is just a basic manicure and Manicure services are all different depending to where you go.
This is just a basic one that I used to perform for my clients at my salon.

Steps:
1. Sanitize your hands
2. Take off the polish
3. Trim & shape your nails
4. Apply cuticle remover
5. Soak
6. Push back & cut cuticles
7. Apply cuticle oil & buff the surface
8, Massage (watch this video for detailed steps and techniques)
9. Remove oil from the surface with acetone
10. Apply polish

How to - Save a Broken / Split Nail

Recently I had a bit of a nail-tastrophe when I clumsily cracked one of my nails. It wasn't a simple crack or peel at the tip of the nail either, it was a split at the corner at the very beginning of the free edge of my nail, meaning that if I were to fix it by clipping or filing, I would basically have no nail left. And then, since I'm a bit (read: A LOT) anal and can't have my nails uneven, I would have had to cut all of my nails short.
Let's just say, I was not happy.

That's when I remembered that a while ago while at Sally Beauty Supply, I decided to pick up Orly's Nail Rescue kit in case of any nail emergencies. Well thanks past Kayla because this kit completely saved my nails!


The kit comes with 3 products inside - nail glue, nail repair powder and a small buffer. The repair process is a simple 3 step process that takes next to no time.

Step 1: Brush the nail glue onto the entire nail (make sure it's completely clean first and be sure to avoid getting the glue on your cuticles).
Step 2: Dip the nail into the nail repair powder and remove the excess powder.
(Maybe it's just me but during this step my nail felt very hot although that went away rather quickly).
Step 3: Buff the surface smooth.

And that's it! So simple right?! And if you want a little extra protection, you can always repeat the steps over again.

You can now paint your nails with your favourite polish and wait for that break to grow out. It's very important though that you use an acetone-free nail polish remover in between manicures until you're ready to remove the glue/powder because acetone will eat through the glue/hardened powder. However, when you're ready to remove the powder, simply use an acetone formula polish remover and it'll soak right off.

How to - Depot MAC Eyeshadows

As I sat down for a depotting session last night I thought it might be helpful to record what I was doing and post it here.

I started by doing a step-by-step picture taking process but I quickly realized that it wasn't very easy to take pictures with one hand while depotting with the other. So, I decided to record it instead. This is actually my first youtube video so maybe it will encourage me to start uploading more videos.

Fun Edges Tutorial

So here's a fun addition that I made to my News of the Beloved Mani. I got the bright idea that you could use decorative scissors to create something similar to the french tip guides. I remember seeing someone using a similar idea with painters tape (sorry, can't remember where) but figured I'd share my version.

Lets pull together our supplies.
First you'll need some cool craft scissors. Being a bit of a jack of all crafts I have a multitude of decorative edge scissors as you can see. These are just some of the ones that have potential for my purpose.
I use electrical tape because it seems to be pretty close to the material they use for the nail guides. It has great adhesion and won't tear. The narrowness of the tape makes it a bit more difficult to work with so find the widest you can.

Here you can see I've taken a length of electrical tape and cut it down the center. You then have for lack of a better term a negative and a positive pattern. From here you can cut them into shorter lengths for your individual nails.


Then, just like with the nail guides, place them on your nail (which should already have a nice dry base color) and with the polish of your choice (I used Sally Hansen Xtreme 'Blue Me Away') paint from the guide out (notice how my brush strokes start in the middle of the guide) filling in any missed spots as needed. Be careful to not to use too much polish, if you do it makes it harder to achieve a nice detail. If you do accidentally use too much polish, take a cotton swap dipped in polish remover and clean as close to the edge of the guide as possible, this cuts the goopyness and hopefully allows for better detail.
Wait until the polish is almost but not quite dry and pull the guide TOWARDS you slowly. To clarify, on my nails I pulled it back towards my arm not toward the tips of my nails even though they were pointed towards me for this picture. Make sense??
From there, it's just a matter of applying your top coat and enjoying your new look.

Wild Stripes Tutorial

I'd like to give credit where it's due but alas I can't recall where I saw the inspiration for this look. It was just too fun to not give it a try. Once my nails get a bit longer (since you need a bit of room to get all the colors in.) I'm going to give it a whirl on my own.


Step 1: Take your yellow polish (China Glaze 'Solar Power') and with a sponge apply it on either side of the horizontal center of your nail leaving a blank space in the center.
















Step 2: Take your blue (China Glaze 'Shower Together') and with the sponge apply it to the center and extend out about midway into the yellow.
















Step 3: I wanted to pump up the brightness on the green that was created by overlapping the blue and yellow so I took some Pure Ice 'Wild Thing' and sponged that over the top.















Step 4: From there I took orange (Sinful Colors 'Patrika') and sponged it out to the tip.

















Step 5: Being careful not to cover all of the orange take some gold (Orly 'Glitz') and sponge to the tip.

















Step 6: For the final bit of color take some brown (China Glaze 'Unplugged') and sponge just the very ends of the nails.

The base color is now done. Pretty cool huh? It looks a little rough but your top coat will take care of that.














Step 7: Now, with an unsteady hand (Yes you read right, it looks better if your a bit shaky.) start to draw in your lines. I used Stripe Rite black but I've used a black sharpie before and it works ok. Keep the lines irregular in shape and length. I alternated sides.

When you're done it will look something like this. Nice eh?













And finally, add your topcoat (Orly) ***Note: I had a bit of an issue with the stripes smearing vertically at the tips and making it look all wonky when I applied the top coat as you normally would from the nail base to tip. To keep this from happening apply the first coat horizontally with the stripes, that way if it smears it doesn't matter.
This picture is showing one coat so you can see how it's smoothed things out and brightened them up. I'd recommend a second coat though since you can still see a bit of the roughness from the sponge technique. Read Full...
