Black On Black....

I recently purchased a couple matte polishes from Avon, one being the matte black. I decided to do a simple french manicure using the matte black as the base and a normal black for the tip, you could easily paint on the tip using a clear varnish, but I didn't have one to hand that was super glossy. Its the first time I have painted my nails with a matte polish and I really like it, I cant believe I left it so long to jump on the matte wagon.

I really love the look of it and in reality it looks ten times better. I think next time I do this I will go for black leopard print instead.

Are any of you loving mattes at the moment?

My Nails Are Lovin.....

This week my nails are loving Foxy Fuchsia by models own.

It has probably featured on my blog in the past, but for those of you that aren't in the know here it is again.

Its such a vibrant pretty colour, and I can never fault models own. I'm starting to stray away from the dark winter colours, it all about vibrant colours now (well for me at least).

Models own is now available in most Boots stores or you can check out their site HERE where they now ship internationally.

Check Mate- Nail Art

Just a quick post for you ladies featuring Barry M Raspberry. I forgot I had this baby tucked away *slaps wrist*

I decided to have a little play around with my nail art pen on one of my nails, and came up with this cute checker board effect....

How I achieved the look...

I first painted my nails with the Barry M polish

I then painted 4 black lines down and 6 across (you can also use black liquid liner if you haven't got a nail art pen)

Finally I filled in each square alternately in black

Simples.......

I think I'm loving nail art on one finger at the moment, whats your favourite pattern? Read Full...

MeMeMe

No I'm not being self absorbed, I'm talking about MeMeMe Cosmetics. They have revamped their whole brand and introduced a rainbow of new nail polish shades to their collection.

Four of the shades from left to right:80 Impulsive -a bright yellow mustard (not for the faint hearted) , 83 proud- Khaki green, 58 Indulgent- a light grey and 79 Patient- a red wine
I must admit I am a fan of these shades (not so much the bright yellow)with the grey being my fave. The polish is the right consistency to achieve an even finish after 2 coats.

They are marketed as quick dry high gloss, I would definitely agree with the quick dry part but the 'gloss' is borderline matte (nothing a top coat cant fix)

Also, as most of you probably know I don't do messy when it comes to nails lol, and the pictures above actually make me shudder. The reason being.......the brush inside these polishes is too wide and way too square. This means you cant get the perfect shape when you push the polish towards your cuticle, and you have to start angling the brush which is just a pain *sigh*

Aside from that its all good

You can pick up MeMeMe from Superdrug or their site which is HERE RRP £4.50

I'm actually eyeing up a few more shades to add to my never ending nail polish collection. Have any of you tried these?

Dip It And Twist It

Ooh 2 post from me in one day you lucky lot,I may have tomorrow as my day off lol.

I bought this the other day at superdrug because well,I felt I needed something for those lazy days.

Basically what it is,is a spongy type material drenched in nail varnish remover.

All you have to do to get your nail polish off.....dip your finger in,and twist then your done.

What shocked me most is the fact that this actually worked, and removed every trace of polish without leaving my nail bed or fingers dry.

Its definitely the quick and easy alternative to the usual cotton pad and remover. Also good to carry around for those on the go paint jobs.

Do any of you own this teeny pot of genius?

available from superdrug, cant remember the price *slaps head* but im pretty sure it was under £3.

Why not many acrylic videos any more.. & my beauty challenge??

Hi guys,

Here is my video on update in my life...

As I explain in the video,

I do not wear acrylic nails on my hands any more.
Since I have extremely sensitive skin,
I developed a minor allergy to the acrylic product.

Even then, I was doing my clients' nails and I would do some 3D nail art using acrylic still by being careful not to touch the product.
However,
it was not very good for the environment of my house and my health.

Around the same time,
the situation in my life turned around and I no longer work as a nail tech any more.
I used to do nails quite a bit and I loved doing them on people,
but I was a little bit relieved to take a break.
Because of this situation,
I actually have no chance to use acrylic anymore either since I dont even have a client.

I still LOVE nail art.
It has been always my passion.
I love beauty and art.

So,
it is actually nice to enjoy and be creative about my art passion without worrying about clients and business.

That is why
I don't upload too much of fake nail designs on blogs or my youtube channel lately.

but I will still do them sometimes...! just not as often as before! ;)

I wasn't sure if any of you would care to hear about this...
but I got several questions & requests for acrylic tutorials and I felt that I should just explain! :):)

Hope you understand :):) thank you sooooo much xoxoxoxoxox

Also....

Im into having natural nails & be creative with them.
It is limited since you would have non-perfect shaped nails like fake nails, right?
but,
in that category, it is like a challenge and fun to create some wearable nail art.:)

I think that's what I am into recently :)

AAAAAALSOOOOOOOO!

I am getting more and more into skin care & face makeup products.

What I care most about my face is.... SKIN condition.

I think that's what I notice most when I see people too!

So, I love to experiment and investigate about skincare and face makeup.
soooo,
probably....
if I am brave....

I might do a foundation routine video or something featuring different types of products.

maybeeeee... lol

annnyways!!

I hope this wasn't too boring of a post.

sorry!!!

xoxox

thanks!!! Read Full...

How I did Cheetah Nails (a tutorial)

I'm more than a little proud on how Alayssa's cheetah nails turned out. So I can remember how I did them, I decided to do a tutorial of sorts.
Here are all of the supplies I used except for the base coat (Orly) that somehow didn't make it into the pic.

Allrighty then, let's begin. After I applied a base coat (Orly) I painted the entire nail yellow (Pure Ice 'Unzip Me') with two coats and let dry.
Then I took a makeup sponge and painted a corner with gold (Orly 'Glitz') then gently tapped it onto the top half of the nail to blend.
Using the same sponge method I took a copper color (Cover Girl Boundless Color 'Perfect Penny') and blended it onto just the tip. This finishes the main coat of your cheetah, now to move onto the spots.

Using a brown (China Glaze 'Unplugged) I just dotted irregular spots onto the nail making sure to vary the sizes and not make it too even
.

Then, using black acrylic paint and my dotting tool I added the black outline on the spots as well as a few "blank" spots. For the most part I did three irregular outlines around each spot, I feel this gives it a more realistic look. Make sure you let the paint dry before you apply the topcoat otherwise you'll get smudging.

And here is the finished product. Don't forget to use a good topcoat (Orly) I used two coats, the first I applied with a light touch to keep from smearing the acrylic paint and the latter just to smooth things out and give a more finished appearance.
Clean up any oopsies with a q'tip dipped in acetone (I forgot that step for the picture) and the inner animal is out!

When Boredom 'Stripes'

Ok so theres no real story behind this,my nude nails were looking a bit blah,so I painted some black stripes on them.

I love it,its so me.

For the base I used models own nude beige. Its darker in reality, but the annoying light beaming through my window has made it look different in the pic.

I used to really be into nail art a few years back, but as my love for being a nail technician died so did alot of other things nail related.

At this moment in time im contemplating starting up buisness again.Who knows what might happen....

Until then, roll on the purdy nails :-)

Are any of you nail art fans?

Elegant Touch

I love this stuff.I only discovered it because of my mum lol.

Its a fine mist that dries your nails in 60 seconds.Does it work? Yes it does.Im always using this before I go to bed,as im always painting my nais when my eyes are on the brink of closing. So this stops me from waking up to nails covered in all manors of patterns. It also contains vitamin E to condition those cuticles.

I picked mine up in tesco for about £3.50 (125ml) but im sure you can pick it up in almost any drugstore.

P.s I hope my posts are displaying properly.Im still doing them through my phone.Hopefully not for much longer.... Read Full...

Turkish Delight

Turkish Delight but Models Own.Everyone knows that im a fan of these polishes, and lord knows I have enough of them.If you look in my labels on the right hand side and click models own,you can find swatches of some of their other polishes.

I cant fault these polishes,as usual 2 coats and im done, they dry pretty fast too.

I have never liked eating turkish delight, but I think it looks fab on my nails.

Revlon Lilac Pastel

Had to paint my nails last night as my eyeko polish eventually chipped. It lasted 4 days if anyone's wondering.

So anyway,I decided on this colour....

I like it but its not really what I thought it would be.On my nails its more on the pinky side than lilac.

Its still ok I suppose, but I think im going to change the colour again tonight.

Have any of you got this shade, what do you think of it?

Bubble Gum Pink Glitter nails!!!!

Here is a pic from today.
She got this LeChat bubble gum glitter all over her nails!

they turned out soooo pretty!!!

what I did was to mix that glitter with akzentz clear gel.

oh!!
by the way, I heard that Akzentz products are only sold to professional with certificate....
So,,,,
if you guys want to try UV gel, but cannot get a hold of Akzentz, I would suggest to start with any UV gel that you could get.
There are lots of online stores like eznails
and they carry lots of other great gel products like NSI balance and CND gels.

I wish Akzentz sell to everyone though....
I love Akzentz since it's local (BC, canada!)
and their produts just make my clients so happy!
no lifting, no yellowing and easier to work with for techs too.

if any of you guys know any online store that carries Akzentz, please let me know
so I can let others know :)

Thanks!!!

xoxo
