Valentine's Day Nail Art Series - Lovebug

Hey guys.

So I actually had no plans to do a Valentine's Day series but the only idea I could come up with tonight was a Valentine's inspired one so I guess this will be the start of a series!

Unfortunately, this isn't a great start to this series because I really don't like this mani at all. In fact, it probably won't last a whole day.

To start, I filed my nails before doing this mani and I wasn't paying enough attention because I didn't do a very good job. So now i just want to remove the polish just so that I can re-file my nails.

Next, when I had the whole mani done, I started to put top coat on and the colour from the little heart spangles started to drag and run all over the rest of my nail. I seriously could have cried because I had spent so much time on the design and then to have it ruin before my eyes was painful. I ended up fixing it by putting new spangles on top of the old ones that had no colour anymore and I placed a dollop of top coat on each of the hearts before putting top coat over the entire nail which prevented the colour from dragging.

Nevertheless, I was still very frustrated at the end of everything.

Nails of the Day - Simple Holographic Zebra Print

Hey guys!

I hope everything had a wonderful Christmas! Mine was excellent and you'll be seeing some swatches of some of the goodies I got.

Today's nail design is super simply because I didn't have much time but I wanted to take my poinsettia design off so I came up with this holographic zebra print. Because it's so sparkly this could definitely be used as a New Year's design but I have something a little more extravagant in mind for my New Year's manicure!

Christmas Nail Art Series - Candy Canes with Holly

Hey!

How is everyone doing? I'm still stressin' over final exams and final papers but I'll be done everything Friday evening so I promise I'll get back to regular posting; I have a lot of posts lined up!

L.A. Colors Exotic Pink

L.A. Colors - Exotic Pink, 3 coats

Exotic Pink is a lovely, squishy, vivid deep pink jelly bordering on magenta (or even neon pink if you're not a neon purist). I doubt that my camera was able to capture the true brightness of this lacquer. :/ This time, I wrapped my tips while putting the polish on and thus avoided the icky pooling near the tip of the free edge. It also took me about three hours to do this mani from start to finish since I waited about 20 minutes between each coat as I was desperately trying to avoid bubbling. BTW, what's up with all the LA/L.A. polishes, are they manufactured by the same company? It's just that if they are then why the discrepancy, isn't LA = Louisiana and L.A. = Los Angeles? And what does LASplash stand for then? %)

Halloween Nail Art Series - Jack-O-Lanterns

Alright, here's the next nail art design in my Halloween series - Jack-O-lanterns!



This one took quite a long time because I wanted the detailing to be perfect and so a lot of time was spent on just editing and cleaning up lines.
Also, the glitter was an afterthought and I wish I would have thought about it before I started the design of the faces because it took much longer to try and get around the face designs with the glitter then it would have had I just used the glitter on top of the black base. However, when I finished it just seemed like it was missing something so I added the glitter to make it look more like night time and that the jack-o-lanterns are shining through.

Halloween Nail Art Series - Mummies

I'm sorry that I haven't been posting that much recently but like I said in my last post, yesterday was my birthday (it was great, if anyone is wondering!) and on top of that, I have a lot of school work that I'm working on right now. The design is mine except for the inclusion of the silly looking eyes. I was originally going to do red eyes to make it more spooky looking but after seeing a mummy video, I much preferred the look of the more silly eyes.

So today's mani is based on the theme "Girly Nails" which is the theme of a Nail Art Competition on another board I'm a member of. I think the end result is pretty it's just not really "me".

I also used one of my all time favourite polishes to create the design which is Strawberry Fields by China Glaze. It's such a beautiful raspberry pink colour that's packed with gold shimmer.

NOTD September 5th: L.A. Colors - Treasure Island

Hi again!

I know, this is my third post today but I'm really in the mood for it right now!

Today I painted my nails with the L.A. Colors Color Craze nail polish in Treasure Island. Its a glitter nail polish and in the bottle it looks like it's a turquoise jelly with silver glitter, but it's actually a clear base with both turquoise and silver glitter in it. It was pretty easy to apply, but it required three coats for full opacity. Drying time was okay and the surface is kinda uneven, but that doesn't change with topcoat, which is weird, because I thought it would get smooth, but it didn't after two coats of topcoat... I'm curious if it will be very hard to remove, because it's like that with most glitter nail polishes. I'll update this post when I find out :)

EDIT: I remove it after I wore it for 5 days, and it stayed without chipping or tip-wear, but I wore two coats of top coat. Removal was okay, not as hard as I thought it would be, but you definitely have to be patient. I think it's worth the removal process!
