L.A. Girl Flare Burgundy

My sister Ashley, who got me into nail polish and helped me start this blog, recently sent me lots of her nail of the day photos. So I'll be featuring her nails sometimes this month instead of my own.
Here we have 3 coats of L.A. Girl Flare Burgundy, a super glossy creme with a great formula.

Thanks for reading!

NYC 249B

This is 2 coats of NYC 249B. Almost a one coat wonder.Very nice formula with almost no clean up & a nice wide brush. It's a dark burgundy with golden micro shimmer. Too dark for my tastes but gorgeous.

Thanks for reading & don't forget to enter my giveaway!

M.A.C. Bad Fairy

Here are the obligatory ton of pictures of M.A.C. Bad Fairy. This is 3 coats but I could have used a fourth since the formula is thin and sheer. It's a burgundy, brick red, copper multichrome foil that is gorgeous but just not my style. It felt loud and gaudy on my longish nails. It's going in by never to be used again bag even though it's lovely unique.

Maybelline Colorama Ruby Flare & Beams of Fire

Maybelline Colorama - Ruby Flare, 2 coats

I filed my nails down and was feeling brave enough to sport a red lacquer. Ruby Flare is a delicious poison apple red and lands somewhere between a jelly and a creme. The formula was wonderful and the polish was easy to apply despite of the usual splayed out brush that Coloramas tend to have.

Maybelline Colorama - Ruby Flare & Beams Of Fire, 2 +1 coats

This was a gorgeous combination - look at the third picture! - and I think I may have just killed a lemming for Barielle Elle's Spell. I think that these Colorama flakies lie flatter on the nail than Nfu-Oh's and thus don't require an extra/abnormally thick coat of TC to get a smooth surface.

Avon Golden Wine

Avon - Golden Wine, 2 coats

First of all - I looove the Avon brush, it's wide and flat and stiff enough to allow precise application of polish. Speaking of the polish, Golden Wine reminds me of lingonberry jam, yum! It's a burgundy-ish red shimmer packed with larger flecks of gold, it's very Christmasy in a distinguished way. The formula was watery and somewhat runny but also quite pigmented, this is two coats. You can see a tiny bit of VNL and general streakiness in the last picture and it could honestly have used a third coat. Formula issues aside, I'd seriously recommend every red lover to get this polish. Read Full...

Nivea Berry Gloss & Nfu-Oh 51

Nivea - Berry Gloss, 2 coats

In the bottle, Berry Gloss looks like a heavily red tinted purple, but on the nail it translates as a mixture between reddish purple and burgundy (see second image). It's a super glossy and squishy jelly and would have required at least three coats to eliminate VNL, but since I was going to layer 51 over it I only did two. The polish sort of puddled near the very tips which is apparent in the pics. The brush was splayed and the bristles hard thus I had to leave a larger gap than usual to avoid cuticle flooding.

Nivea - Berry Gloss & Nfu-Oh - 51, 2 + 2 coats

Fat nails! Chunkytown! :p Nfu-Oh 51 is an incredibly beautiful lacquer but I bet it looks a hundred times better in the summer when there's an abundance of sunlight.

Eveline 489 & nail art stickers

Eveline - 489 & nail art stickers, 2 coats

Eveline 489 is one hot magenta with super fine fuschia shimmer. The first picture is the most accurate one, this cutie glows! The nail stickers are by Fing'rs and I almost think they're made for babies' nails as they're so darn tiny! That seems to go for all others Fing'rs brand stickers I've seen - either that or my nail beds are huge!

OPI Let Me Entertain You vs. Lumene Soul Shaker

OPI - Let Me Entertain You, 2 coats

Let Me Entertain You is a wonderfully vivid magenta with duochrome foil particles and glass flecks in a jelly base. I dislike wearing classic reds because they make me feel like a two dolla hooker, but flashy magentas like this one are a-ok in my book. Figure it out. *eh*

OPI - Let Me Entertain You (index, ring) & Lumene - Soul Shaker (middle, pinkie, zoom), 2 + 3 coats

Soul Shaker is one of the five nail polishes from Lumene's current Punk Princess Trend Collection; the rest are a plain black, a pink and a grey creme plus what looked to me like a dupe for Hard Candy Mr. Wrong. In the bottle Let Me Entertain You and Soul Shaker appear to be something like 99,9% dupes, but Soul Shaker is a tad lighter and needs 3 coats to eliminate VNL. The Natural Code line lacquer bottles are ridiculously tiny at 4,5ml and cost around 4€, but if you're a Finn and can't bring yourself to hand over 16€ for a bottle of OPI (I've got two words for you: Trans Design) then go and grab youself a bottle of Soul Shaker.
