Review & Swatches - Wet 'n' Wild Spring 2011 FastDry Polishes: Part 1

Hey guys!

So as promised in my last post, here are swatches of some of the new Wet 'n' Wild Fast Dry polishes for Spring. There are still a few colours that I don't have but I plan to get them at some point which is why I titled this post Part 1.

Oh, and one of the colours that is not pictured here is Party of 5 Glitters which I did a swatch comparison (with Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday) and review of here.

I've read that this one is a dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Wicked Game but I don't own that one so I'm unable to do a comparison. However, it does look rather similar to OPI's Not Like the Movies from the Katy Perry collection.

The formula on these was just ok. I mean, it wasn't difficult to work with but it wasn't the easiest either. Also, most of the frosts had streaking problems. In terms of opacity, all of the swatches above are 3 coats aside from Everybody Loves Redmond which only needed 2 coats. These are branded as FastDry polishes but I didn't find that they dried faster than any other regular polish.

I wish I had gotten a picture of the brush (I'll make sure to get one for the Part 2 swatches/review) because it had a very odd shape. It's like it's straight all the way across until you get to one side when it slants upwards. SO strange! It doesn't make application too difficult but it doesn't help either. I think a brush re-design is definitely in order.

The names of the polishes are some of the cheesiest I have ever seen but I actually like it because they make me smile. :)

The price of these polishes is very reasonable. I paid $2.84 for each bottle at Wal-Mart and I've read that you can find them cheaper ($1.99) if you look around. However, at either price, it's definitely a great value.

Keep an eye out for Part 2 of this post where I'll swatch the rest of the colours and I'll also include a picture of that wonky brush! Read Full...

Swatch Comparison - Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday vs. Wet 'n' Wild Party of 5 Glitters

Hey guys!

Today I picked up a few of the new Wet 'n' Wild polishes including the apparent Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday dupe called Party of 5 Glitters so I decided to do a comparison to see just how similar they are.

As you can see, the glitter is much denser in the Lippmann polish than the Wet 'n' Wild one but besides that, they're rather similar. Plus, once you add a second coat to the Wet 'n' Wild polish, the glitter density looks about the same.

The biggest difference besides the glitter density is that Party of 5 Glitters doesn't have any gold glitter pieces in it while Happy Birthday does. Also, Party of 5 Glitters doesn't have smaller silver glitter pieces, only the larger ones while Happy Birthday has both. However, both of these minor differences will probably be barely noticeable on the nails.

I don't particularly like the brush for either of the polishes so that didn't really matter to me.

The price difference between these 2 polishes is pretty crazy. The Wet 'n' Wild polish is $2.84 at Wal-Mart while the cheapest I've seen the Lippmann one for is about $18 on eBay.

So if you missed out on Happy Birthday or if you just don't want to shell out that much for one polish, Party of 5 Glitters is a great alternative. I wouldn't call them dupes but they're definitely close enough that it's hard to tell once on the nail.

Like I said above, I also picked up a few of the other new Wet 'n' Wild polishes so swatches for those should be up in the next couple of days!

Hope this was helpful! Read Full...

Review & Swatches - Wet 'n' Wild Sugar Plum Fairy Holiday Palette

Hey all!

Today I have swatches of the last of the Wet 'n' Wild holiday palettes for you. This one is called Sugar Plum Fairy and features 6 shades: a milky pink with subtle shimmer, a light lavender with gold shimmer, a medium frosty violet, a fleshy nude with silver glitter, a mauve with gold shimmer (VERY similar to MAC Trax) and a deep chocolate brown with bright copper glitter (this is a gorgeous shade).

Like the previous two palettes, I won't be doing a complete review on this one since I felt the same way about this one as I did the Night Elf palette which I reviewed not too long ago. So you can check out that post here if you want a detailed review. I have added a few additional comments at the end of this post to clue up the reviews on all of these palettes.

(Close-up to show the magnificent shimmer of the brown shade)

Basically, here's the rundown/a quick review:

- These palettes are inexpensive ($6.99 at the drugstore)
- The quality is rather impressive
- Pigmentation is excellent
- Last all day (with a base underneath)
- Come in a variety of shades
- My only problem is the cheap-feeling packaging but thanks to above points, I'm able to get over that

All in all, these palettes are extremely good value! The pigmentation of every single shade is quite impressive and I'm so surprised to see that Wet 'n' Wild has really stepped up their game! I would always pass by the Wet 'n' Wild display but now I'll definitely be stopping and taking a look much more often.

I've tried but I just cannot pick a favourite palette out of the four holiday ones! They're all great and offer different versatilities for different looks. However, I think that the dark brown shade in this Sugar Plum Fairy palette is probably my top shade of the bunch.

I also read somewhere that Wet 'n' Wild is releasing some new palettes for Spring so hopefully I'll also be able to get my hands on those!

P.S. Many of you mentioned that this brand isn't available in your area so I went out searching for more of these palettes for a giveaway and I was lucky enough to find one of each. So, keep on the lookout for a giveaway where you'll get a chance to win these palettes! Read Full...

Review & Swatches - Wet 'n' Wild Golden Goddess Holiday Palette

Hey!

This is the number three of four of the Wet 'n' Wild holiday palettes. This one is called Golden Goddess and features 6 shades: a light gold-beige, a peachy copper with gold glitter, a true gold shimmer, a very metallic gold, a true copper with gold glitter and a dark brown with gold glitter.

Like the last one, I won't be doing a complete review on this one since I felt the same way about this one as I did the Night Elf palette which I reviewed not too long ago. So you can check out that post here if you want a detailed review.

Review & Swatches - Wet 'n' Wild Snow Sprite Holiday Palette

Hey!

Today I have another of the Wet 'n' Wild holiday palettes for you! I won't be doing a complete review on this one since I felt the same way about this one as I did the Night Elf palette which I reviewed not too long ago. So you can check out that post here if you want a detailed review.

This palette is called Snow Sprite and it features 6 shades: a dirty beige with a green tint, a spring green with a slight duochrome effect, a dark sparkly forest green, a light blue-silver (which shows up as more silver than blue on my fair skin), a medium blue-silver (this one does come off more blue and it has a slight metallic look to it) and a smoky, dark sparkly blue.

Look of the Day - Holiday Greens

Hey guys!

I know it's been forever since I last posted a makeup look but now that my semester is over I've started actually caring about makeup again! Plus, I've been able to play with some of the makeup that I accumulated throughout the semester that I didn't have time to play with when I purchased it and that's been really fun.

This look is one that I came up with for the holiday season and that I have been wearing at various holiday parties and get togethers. It's gotten a lot of compliments and it's surprisingly very easy to do!
