Zoya Caitlin & A Water Marble

This is 2 coats of Zoya Caitlin. Easy application and an unexpected new favorite! It's a much lighter version of Zoya Kelly, which I'm wearing on my pinkie. Caitlin is a purplish grey creme that works great a s a neutral for me. I could wear it with a brown outfit since there is so much purple which I wouldn't normally do with a grey. Believe people when they say you need this one. It's unique and doesn't have any dupes that I can find.
The next night a did a quick water marble with the 2 colors. I love water marbling!
You can see my thoughts on the Zoya Intimate Collection in this post.

China Glaze Jitterbug & holo glitter gradation

China Glaze - Jitterbug & holo glitter gradation, 2 coats

Party on my nails! Too bad we didn't get any sun so I only got to admire the pretty bling under supermarket lights (my camera is too large and clunky for any discreet photo sessions between the aisles, teehee). The gradation was done with a kitchen sponge (an unused one! :D) using Nubar Hologram Glitter, China Glaze Nova and Model's Own Silver Spangle - oh, and removal was a major PITA... Read Full...

Color Club Soft As Cashmere

Nice color but it's super sheer & thin. This is coats, & you can see below that it's not nearly enough. This would take at least 4 coats, possibly 5! No thanks for a polish that isn't unique. I'm actually wondering if I got a bad bottle since I haven't seen anyone else have this problem. Does that happen though?
Essie Chinchilly is very similar, maybe a bit less yellow toned than Soft As Cashmere. This one's going into my to be frankened pile.

Color Club Pretty In Platinum

This is 2 coats of the lovely Color Club Pretty In Platinum. I really love this slightly frosty, super pale gray/silver! I think its very flattering and looks great with most of my wardrobe. It reminds me of a silver Silly Putty Egg I had at some point.

Sally Hansen Wet Cement & Konad

This is 2 coats of Sally Hansen Wet Cement. The formula was just ok on this one. It's a nice color but I prefer my darker grey China Glaze Recycle. What is your favorite grey creme polish?

For the Konad I used plate M63 & stamped it once with OPI Parlez Vous & once with China Glaze Adore.

I declare this polish and this Konad, meh.

Strange Beautiful Anthropolgie (Cinder Block)

Strange Beautiful sold these very odd but lovely polish sets exclusively at Anthropologie. Ashley picked this set up for me recently and it's super cool! You have to use each polish with the other one still attached. I thought this would be difficult or weird but I think it actually made polishing my nails easier. I didn't have to do any clean up at all! It basically just means you have a really long brush handle.
These colors don't have names, just "color inspirations". I find this a bit pretentious but that's ok because I also love that the company wasn't afraid to try something unique. This color was inspired by cinder blocks. I'm wearing two coats here but you can almost get away with just one if you're careful.
Lovely polish from a company that doesn't mind trying something different! You can see the purple polish here.

Sation Holiday Spirit

This is 3 coats of Sation Holiday Spirit. I really love this one! I found it at my favorite crazy, dusty polish store. I decided to start in one corner and search thoroughly until I found something interesting. This beauty was at the very bottom row in the very corner. Only $1 so I'll be going back to get more to add to future giveaways for sure!

I've already worn this one twice. There are many reasons to love this polish. The sheer charcoal base combined with the super holographic glitter camouflages my slightly stained nail beds even at just one coat, great when I'm in a hurry! The holographic effect is just as striking indoors too as long as there is some light hitting the surface. It also dries very quickly, is easy to remove and big 3 free!!

Here are a couple of shots that show the sheer charcoal base.

And here's a shot in the shade. Still pretty but all of the holographic effect turns into plain silver.

Essie Chinchilly

This is 2 coats of Essie Chinchilly. It's a gorgeous grey creme, but still doesn't beat Recycle. Chinchilly seems to have some yellow undertones. What's your favorite grey creme? Or are you opposed to grey polish in general?

I have major World Cup Fever! Ashley and I went to Germany for the last World Cup 4 years ago. We get up early for every game and occasionally even scream at the television. It's the biggest thing that happens on the planet and I get totally caught up in the magic! And the men! That's how I first got hooked on the World Cup way back in 1994. I was flipping channels when suddenly my tv screen was filled with beautiful men from around the world!

So now I present to you April's World Cup Hottie of the Day! Today's pick is Diego Lugano playing for Uruguay! I don't know all of the ins & outs of posting photos that you find on the internet, so unless one of you can help explain the rules to me, I'll just link to a photo. (That's allowed right?)

Toma Purple Mist To Grey Mist & A French Manicure

I've never posted NINE pictures of any polish before, but this one deserves it! Toma Mood Changing Purple Mist to Grey Mist is one of the most unique colors I've ever seen! I have no idea how to describe it so I'll just let you look at the pretty pictures. Gorgeous!

I did a french manicure using China Glaze LOL. I didn't end up liking the color combination as much as I thought I would though
.

I would buy this in a heartbeat if I could find it anywhere!!! What do you think ladies, should we petition Mad Beauty, who took over Toma, to bring this color back?

China Glaze Recycle & Konad

I can't believe that I've never posted pictures of China Glaze Recycle! This is one of the polishes that got me hooked last year and is without a doubt in my all-time top five!
I used my second favorite Konad image from plate M60 with Maybelline Blue Aluminum on one of the last truly wintry days we had in Tulsa.

Orly - Enchanted Forest and Mirror Mirror

These two polishes come from Orly's Once Upon a Time... collection from last fall.

Enchanted Forest is a dark green creme. I thought this shade was going to be a bit lighter than it is. It looked too close to black most of the time on the nail. Still a nice color, just not what I was looking for.

Mirror Mirror is a light grey creme, with a slightly blue tone.

Here it is against a grey skirt of mine. You can see the blue tone to it better here.

This is one of the only polishes that April & I both purchased. Here is April wearing it with Konad plate M63.

I enjoyed this collection from Orly. If I'd had the money I would have bought them all (Minus pixie dust. I love cremes!).

Maybelline Mattes: Blue, Rose, Grey, & Stone

I've had lots of fun & frustration with all of my Dollar Store Maybellines. Khaki Fringe made it into my top 5 favorites, Matte Sapphire is lovely but others have just been a pain to work with. Here are 4 of the Maybelline Matte series. The first two are big losers but I LOVE the last two.

UGH! These are NOT self leveling. They were so gloopy that the polish just made little brushstroke mountains. Those are not my nail ridges but just evidence of how thick this stuff was. I didn't like the color of either of these enough to bother with trying to make them work for me. Steph's Closet has lots of great pictures of some other Maybelline Mattes with topcoat if you're interested.

Now onto Matte Rose & Matte Blue which I think are gorgeous. I had been meaning to pick up a bottle of thinner for some time now. These two colors finally sent me to Sally's and the results were worth it. I added 2 or 3 drops to each of these before I applied them and it helped a lot!

I'm not usually interested in reds of any kind for my nails. Matte Rose made the jump into my regular rotation though. This is a gorgeous color but not really rose in my opinion. I think of rose as a dark, dusty pink & this is more of a dusty burgundy. 3 coats. I used a topcoat on my ring & pinkie.

Matte Blue is fairly unique in my opinion. Dusty, sky blue with shimmer. I love it. This is 3 coats.

Overall, at $1 a bottle these are totally worth it! All 4 of them work great with Konad which means that even the Grey and Stone are worth there $1 price tag.

I am putting together a giveaway soon and Maybelline Matte Rose & Matte Blue will be two of the 10 polishes I'll be offering as a prize! There will also be something from MAC & a Kevin Aucoin lipstick.
